I see now that you have a lot of information on Jews in Ptolemaic Egypt and being as I am currently in Egypt (hell, I'm the de facto chief rabbi) I'd love to talk to you.
I’m curious now—are you the only rabbi in Egypt? Are you even a permanent resident of Egypt and if not how can you be sure you visit more than any other rabbi?
I rarely see and even more rarely respond with such alacrity but considering the millennia-length timescales you're comfortable with I'm gonna make the exception — particularly as I was just reading you on Twitter less than 6 hours ago!
Anyhow, it wasn't at all difficult to determine that I was the only Rabbi on Egypt, as I was the only publicly identifying Jew in the country (three elderly women and two half-claims excepted)!
I moved there due to October 7th and was there for nearly 2 years until.the events alluded to here (and fleshed out in just a bit more detail in other recent letters):
